A Ritual To Mark A New You

As we go through life, we grow and change. There are times where we love the person we are, and there are also times where we reflect and don't like the person we have become. We strive to recognise our flaws and improve on ourselves.

There may come a time when you decide you need a major overhaul (I know I have). Old habits don't serve you anymore and hold you back, and sometimes you need to do 'something' to really embed this change, and establish the 'New You'.

Below is a ritual I wrote to mark a New You; a rite to say goodbye to the old and welcome in the new.

Tools:

- White candle
- Three strands of cord that represent three things that you wish to focus on as your new self: for
example, purple for spirituality, pink for self love, etc.

*Note: This is not a cleansing spell, so it may be advised to perform some sort of cleansing ritual or
cleansing bath beforehand.

Method:

Sit and meditate on the person you wish to be. Why do you want to change? Is it really what you
want? Are your changes realistic?

Once you feel you have this basic vision in your mind’s eye, light the white candle and say:

 What's gone is gone,
What is meant be done,
Should be done.
Old problems now forgotten,
Give rise to a new beginning!

No matter how life was.
Drown are now those past
Think of the future;
What is meant to be nurtured,
A new beginning!

Tomorrow is a new day
When tonight has slept her fill
She rises, facing it with zest,
And so it goes,
This new beginning!

And so I will strive forward
With the Goddess in my heart,
And I will embrace and make the most
Of this;
My new beginning!

See yourself as this new person; the new attributes you wish to gain, the way the new you will
handle conflict, loss, joy, success and everything else that life may throw at you. Affirm to yourself
that this is the person you really want to be; no, this is the person that you are!

When you feel ready to accept this change, take the three cords and plait them together, whilst
concentrating weaving your intent into it. You can either wear it, or keep it with you as a reminder of what you have committed to.

Hold your arms towards the skies and say:

"Oh great goddess, here do I mark a new beginning and embrace a new me. May I do away with the old and move forward with the new.”

The ritual is complete. But whenever you feel like you need a boost; burn the white candle and meditate on the person you want to be.
